Those outweighed the benefits of the F2.8 lens for my purposes. Cost could also be considered. I had the 24-70 F2.8 first, and was very happy with my "downgrade" to the 24-105 F4. (Same story for the 15-35 F2.8, which I was so pleased to downgrade to the 14-35 F4.)

I have been thinking about the practicality of the newly announced Canon 28-70 F2 L lens. Whilst it’s impressive, I’d have much preferred a 24-70mm F2.8 L IS Lens. This would be: Significantly cheaper; Not that much cheaper. well, the ef 24-70 f2.8 is nearly half the price. I assume an rf f2.8 would likely be around $2200 or so. $800 is a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM User Reviews. 9.2/10 average of 45 review(s) It's somewhat of a tough choice for me to choose a favorite between this and the 24-70mm f/2.8, because, while I The ƒ/1.4 is a USM L-glass lens, meaning it should do just about everything faster and better than the ƒ/2.8 version, but cost more than three times more. I agree in principle, with regard to lenses that appear as EF and RF variants. But, I would disagree on the 24-70mm range mainly because of the cost difference. This is my personal bias, but the RF 24-70mm f/2.8 is almost the cost of the 28-70mm f/2, which is a substantially better lens, and isn't that much of an improvement over the EF version.

Introduced in February 2012, the EF24-70mm f/2.8L II USM is the long-awaited update to Canon’s pro-grade standard zoom and replaces the highly regarded EF24-70mm f/2.8L USM. Designed with the objective of improving image quality and providing greater durability for daily use with digital cameras, it has a completely revised optical design as well as an enhanced mechanical construction. As The standard zoom of choice for pro photographers, Canon’s original 24-70mm f/2.8L was something of a classic. As you’d expect from Canon’s range-topping standard zoom, autofocus comes courtesy of a fast and whisper-quiet ring-type ultrasonic system. Image quality is excellent, with great sharpness and contrast even when shooting wide-open.
